Safety Culture

Built Into Every Action

At RDES, safety isn't a department — it's a mindset embedded in everything we do. Led by Director of Health & Safety Steve Barnes, our safety program has achieved results that place us among the safest specialty contractors in the nation.

Weekly safety audits and site inspections by dedicated H&S Director
100% PPE compliance monitored through FieldFlo platform
Drug-free workplace with random screening program
OSHA 30 certification required for all field supervisors
Annual refresher training for all abatement and demolition crews
Third-party air monitoring on all environmental projects
Near-miss reporting culture — incidents are learning opportunities
Established Health & Safety Committee with representatives from every level of the organization, from field crews to executive leadership

FieldFlo Integration

RDES utilizes FieldFlo — a real-time field management platform — to track safety compliance, project progress, crew locations, and equipment status. The platform provides project managers with project budget dashboards for real-time cost tracking, and delivers monthly safety training videos while tracking employee training progress and certifications across the organization.

What is EMR 0.47?

The Experience Modification Rate (EMR) measures a company's workers' compensation claims history relative to the industry average of 1.0. Our EMR of 0.47 means RDES is more than twice as safe as the average contractor — saving clients money on insurance and reducing project risk.
