What Is Industrial Demolition?

Unlike residential demolition, which typically involves smaller wood-frame structures, industrial demolition deals with reinforced concrete, structural steel, heavy machinery, and complex building systems. Common Demolition Methods

Mechanical Demolition

Heavy equipment — excavators with hydraulic breakers, grapples, and shears — dismantles structures floor by floor. This is the most common method for commercial and industrial buildings, allowing controlled dismantling with high productivity and precise material sorting.

Selective Dismantling

Hand demolition and small-scale tools remove specific structural elements while preserving adjacent areas. Used in interior gut-outs, historic renovations, and phased facility upgrades where the building envelope must remain intact.

Deconstruction & Salvage

Buildings are systematically taken apart to recover reusable materials — steel beams, fixtures, flooring, and masonry — for resale or reuse. This maximizes landfill diversion and can offset project costs through material salvage value.
